Description
The GP-9 is the highest gain, dual-band fixed station antenna available from COMET. If you desire the absolute maximum coverage area, this is the antenna to choose. The radiation pattern is directed to the horizon omni-directionally around the antenna.
Keep in mind, however, that a high-gain antenna pattern has narrow elevation angle above the horizon (meaning that if you live in a valley and wish to communicate to nearby mountain peaks the GP-6 "may" perform better, but the GP-9's range easily outperforms the GP-6 on flat distances).
In mountainous areas, the antenna's radiation pattern may not reach valley floors or mountain tops as well as the GP-6 antenna. If you need to cover areas around the antenna that are a few thousand feet above or below the antenna elevation, the GP-6 may be a better choice due to the wider radiation angle of the lower gain GP-6 antenna.
For maximum distance over fairly even flat terrain, the higher performance GP-9 easily wins the range distance challenge.
